Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

Sky collects information you voluntarily provide during onboarding, including your name, grade level, school, location, GPA, test scores, extracurricular activities, interests, and goals. This information is used solely to generate personalized opportunity matches and your roadmap.

If you opt in to text reminders, we collect your phone number to send messages via Linq (iMessage/SMS).

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Generate personalized opportunity matches using AI
  • Build and update your personalized roadmap
  • Send SMS deadline reminders (if opted in)
  • Improve our matching algorithms and app experience

3. Data Storage

Your profile data is stored locally on your device using browser storage. Sky does not maintain a centralized database of user profiles. When you use AI-powered features, your profile information is sent to OpenAI's API to generate results — OpenAI's data usage policies apply to that processing.

4. Third-Party Services

Sky uses the following third-party services:

  • OpenAI — to power opportunity matching and plan generation
  • Linq — to send deadline reminders, celebrations, and agent replies
  • Vercel — for hosting and infrastructure

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with advertisers or data brokers.

5. SMS Messaging Consent & Terms

By enabling “Daily text messages” in the Sky app, you expressly consent to receive recurring automated SMS messages from Sky at the phone number you provided during account creation. These messages include personalized task reminders, deadline notifications, and motivational nudges based on your plan.

Message frequency: Up to 1 message per day.
Message & data rates may apply. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Opt-out: You can stop receiving text messages at any time by turning off “Daily text messages” in the Plan tab of the Sky app, or by replying STOP to any message.

Opt-in method: SMS reminders are off by default until you enable them in your app settings. Your phone number is only used to send Sky task reminders and is never shared with third parties for marketing purposes.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

Since your data is stored locally on your device, you can delete it at any time by clearing your browser data or using the “Log out” feature in the app. Once deleted, your data cannot be recovered.

7. Children's Privacy

Sky is designed for high school and college students. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

8. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information. All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Your continued use of Sky after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
